What you will need
3-ring binder pencil/pen notebook papergraph paper clip board scientific calculator (TI 30x recommended)Homework
Homework is the most important aspect of this class. The homework exercises are where you will practice any new material, and review previously learned material.
Assignments will be given each day to be completed before you return to class the next day. I will collect homework EVERY day. All homework should be kept in the students' notebook to be used as a review guide. The notebook will also be checked at the end of each nine weeks for extra credit points.
The following policy will be used in grading Homework and Tests:"A", "B", "C", or "M"ight need more time Grading Policy
If a student does not achieve mastery(a grade of C or better) on any assignment or test, an "M" will be placed in Progress Book until a "redo" is completed and found to be at mastery level. The highest grade possible on a "redo" is a C. Extra Help Time may be required BEFORE a "redo" is issued.
If a homework assignment is not turned in, an "M" will be placed in Progress Book until it is completed at mastery level. The highest grade possible on a late assignment is a B.
If assignments are not completed by TEST day, the student will receive an "M" for the test, and will not take the test until all assignments are completed at mastery level. If a student does not take the test on time, the highest grade possible will be a B.
Assignment and test grades will not be entered until a mastery level is completed--an INCOMPLETE will be put on the grade card until the student completes the work at mastery level.
Late Work (refer to above policy)
Late assignments will be accepted, but the highest grade possible will be a B. All chapter homework must be completed before the chapter test is taken.
Make up Work
If you are absent 1 day, you have 2 days to catch up. If you are absent 2 days, you have 3 days to catch up, etc.
Notebook
It is strongly suggested that each student keep an organized notebook this year. Three-ring binder style notebooks work the best. The notebook should be kept in an organized manner to make review easier. Notebooks will be collected at the end of each quarter for extra credit points.
Hall Pass PolicyThere will be a limit of 3 hall passes each quarter. You will be required to use your assignment book passes to leave the room. If you do not have your assignment book, you will not be able to leave the room.Grading Scale
A 90 - 100
B 80 - 89
C 70 - 79
D 60 - 69
F 60 or below
Grades will be based on points from homework, quizzes and tests.
Students need to have passing grades on 2 of the 3 grades at the end of the semester to receive credit in the course (i.e.. 9wk, 9wk, semester exam).
Progress Book
Grades are kept on Progress Book. You may access a students' grade at anytime. Feel free to email with questions anytime--after checking the computer grade.Expectations
