• Superintendent's Update

Thank you for visiting our website.  It is hard to believe that winter will soon be over and it has certainly been a harsh one.  To date our district has used seven calamity days.  Unless the state of Ohio grants us another four days as proposed by our legislature, we will make up two days on June 9 and 10.

Our calendar has been approved for next year and students will begin class on Wednesday August 27, 2014.  We will once again have a spring vacation April 3-12.  In a move to cost effectively provide professional development for our teachers, we will have a two hour delayed start the first Wednesday of each month.  The final day of classes for our students will be June 4, 2015.

Our new Junior High and High School is open for classes.  It is a magnificent facility!  Our teachers will be able to provide a quality education for our students for many years to come in this building.  Demolition of the old building is taking place this winter and spring.  That will be followed by site work that includes the construction of new parking lots behind our new facility.  The final projected completion date for all work to be done on the project is late this summer.

It is an honor to serve as the Superintendent of the Springfield Local Schools.  Our finances are in excellent shape, we have just opened a new $42 million High School and Junior High and we continue to strive for excellence in the classroom.  I am proud to be a Spartan!
