    We are the Springfield Sparkles from Akron Ohio. We are celebrating our 10th year being an inclusive cheer team in Springfield Local School District! In our 10 years of cheering we have experienced endless opportunities! We teamed up with the Cleveland Cavaliers Spirit Program in 2016, cheered with the University of Akron Cheer Squad, the Canton Charge and have supported many organizations by showing our spirit in their awareness events, i.e. (Buddy Walk, Energy for Life-Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, the Autism Society of Greater Akron, and the Special Olympics to name a few!) Our program began with 5 girls with special abilities and 10 typically developing high school cheerleaders. To date, we have 13 students (7 girls and 6 boys) with special abilities and 10 typically developing cheerleaders. Our program continues to thrive and grow!
    What we enjoy the most about coaching!
    We love teaching our team members what being a part of a team is all about! We love seeing each team member learning about one another and making each other feel the sense of belonging and friendship. The improvements that are seen on a weekly basis whether it be an actual cheerleading or dance skill, or improvements in socializing and participating with their peers. We are so proud of our parents and the support system that they have developed with one another during these last 10 years as well.
    Spirit “Spark-tacular” Showcase Event
    On February 22, 2020, we will be hosting our 3 rd annual Spirit “Spark-tacular” Showcase! The showcase is held at our very own Springfield High School in Akron, Ohio. We are proud to say that our showcase is a day full of love and spirit! It is so humbling for all that participate and for all that attend. There are inclusive cheer and dance team divisions, special needs team divisions, individual, duo and trio divisions as well. Our hope is to allow cheerleaders and
    dancers showcase their talents in front of their peers and beloved fans. At the end of the day, everyone is a winner and receives an award!
    One of our most memorable moments is from last year’s Spirit Spark-tacular Showcase. Each cheerleader and dancer had an American flag and paraded around our gym in an opening ceremony just like the Olympics! The teams lined up and with flags in one hand, with the other hand over their hearts singing the National Anthem. What a proud moment for EVERYONE!
    On February 22, 2020, we will hold our 3 rd annual Spirit “Spark”-tacular Showcase. Our showcase has grown each year. We have inclusive cheer and dance teams from all over Northeast Ohio attend! It has been such a positive event. Each performer receives a medal and the team receives a trophy. All teams are Winners! We have a tumble off/jump off/wheelchair division where students can show off their individual skills! We have an individual, duo and trio divisions as well. In the past we have had an all boys and all girls divisions and has that been a fun division to watch. Springfield Sparkles
