Welcome to Reading! My name is Dena Scrimo and this is my 32nd year teaching. I have been part of the Springfield Schools for 29 of those years, and it's a great place to teach and learn. I received my degree from Kent State University, my master's degree from Marygrove College and my Reading Endorsement from Kent State as well.
I am married to my husband, Chris, and have two children, Olivia 23, and Katie 22. Olivia graduated, and received her master's from Ohio University. Katie graduated from Ohio State University and is currently in graduate school for mental health. I also have a dog named Paisley and a puppy named Poppy. I enjoy reading, boating and spending time with my family and friends.
An interesting fact is that I taught kindergarten for 27 years. I may even have had your child or children over the past years. I truly love the youngest members of the Springfield family, and I was sad to close that chapter of teaching, but have many fond memories. This is my fourth year as a Literacy Specialist, and I am excited to learn and grow with your child and family this year. Cheers to the journey ahead.
